Sunday, January 13

There is a snow storm on the way. We are expected to receive eight to twelve inches. I enjoy the first day or two of a New England snow: Fresh, white, and crystalline, it naturally accentuates the rugged wooded areas of the Western Suburbs where we live. The pine trees outside our kitchen window are my favorite.

Then, the plows turn the sides of the street black; the sidewalks are iced over; I can't ride; yellow snow at the intersections; the general glum that descends amongst the town folk; and the mess.

I need to take the kids sledding...

Another weekend is coming to an end. I rode 46 miles between Saturday an Sunday. Larry loaned me his trainer, so now that winter seems to be coming - again - I can continue toward my goal of riding a century by March 29th.

Another 3 day jaunt to Detroit (Birmingham) this week.
